I run around
myself like a lune
wearin’ a gown
and whistling a tune
that I can’t get out of my
stormy static mind.

Less than I could,
but more than I have.
I know that I should,
but sometimes I’m just too
sad to think about
where I’ve been stuck at.

Most of the time
I am a clown
dyin’ to adorn
a smile in place of this
frown that’s been painted on
my face as I parade around
this town.
We’ve had enough of one...

...another thing that
I obsess about
Is wondering how
my mother will get around
if I am still a clown
frowning for pennies thrown.
I doubt I can give back anything that’s been given to me.

I hardly noticed;
no longer the center of my focus.
Gone now?
Out of sight, out of mind.
The families left that burning...

...town
where we--as children--did meet
on the playground
with our barefeet.
And with our innocence still intact we…

...miraculously
sunk sleepily
and deeply into the sea that we imagined we
lived underneath
with the whales humming melodies
familiar to only you and me--

--Unless you listen carefully
to the frequencies,
resounding low
beneath the cacophony
made by the city,
while cycling wildly
through us invisibly as waves crash into you and me.
